Crab Feed....by Anna M

I am no longer a crab feed virgin. I attempted to get sponsors, I persuaded family to buy tickets to the event, I fought with a whole lot of crab bibs. (Are you wondering how you fight with crab bibs? Try placing them on the backs of chairs and have people walk by those chairs without having the bib fly away, it's a fight, I promise you.) I have survived. Although I am ready for round 2, Sam, Mary, and Kim will probably still be recovering when Battle of the Brews comes around.

The event started out strong. Most members arrived by 2:30 to set up, worked hard, worked together, and left a group of us wandering around with nothing to do by 4:45.

I was a lucky one. Somehow I ended up in the silent auction room. Which meant I got to leisurely wander about the room answering questions, finding pens, selling raffle tickets. The not so lucky ones were running back and forth from the kitchen to the dinning area doing a kick ass job of serving over 400 guests. Now I have a confession, I had never been to a silent auction and seeing as the word silent is in the title I assumed we had to be well, silent. I felt my theory was confirmed when I looked at  the breakdown of the committees and saw myself, Stacy, Veronica, and Jennifer Macias...really we are not the loud crazy types. Then I saw Elisa St. Marie and I got confused because although she is not a loud crazy kind of gal her one liners are often so hilarious that an entire room will be cracking up. As I quickly learned silence is not a requirement of the silent auction area.

After the crab was gone, the cakes sold, prizes won, it was time for the after party. There was a dj and disco lights, $5 cabo wabo shots and margaritas, dancing and love connections, games of flip cup and a few drunk falls, the only thing missing was the hot tub. And as for the stories that go along with the after party, I'm sticking by the cardinal party rule what happens at crabfeed stays at crabfeed.

Crab Feed is just around the corner

As we count down the days (11) to our 6th Annual Crab Feed the excitment is starting to rise!

We have all worked so hard for the past year to pull together sponsorships, silent auction items and ticket sales.

For the first time since we started our Crab Feed we have moved it to Rohnert Park.  The Event Center is the perfect venue for this event.  Full bar, VIP lounge, HUGE dining area and an entire room dedicated to our amazing silent auction.  We will also be hosting our after party on site shorty after dinner is over with an amazing DJ. DJ Lazy boy is a Sonoma County native who has played at a variety of venues and was the house DJ at Tex Wasabi.

This year will mark our 3rd year for our HUGE wine rack.  One of our members was able to secure an amazing 120+ bottle wine rack from Blackstone Winery.  We anticipate having enough wine to fill over half the rack.  Corrina Salvadori began this now annual tradition that has gotten bigger and bigger every year.  It is with with so much love and excitement that we are putting together this 'starter' rack.  ALL proceeds from this will directly benefit her children.

We will also have 8-10 custom cakes up for a live auction starting at 8pm.
