Letter of Appreciation It
with heartfelt appreciation that I send you and the members of the
Active 20/30 Club this note. Thank you very much for the $3,000.00
donation to help feed the youth we serve at the Coffeehouse Teen
Shelter. It was incredibly alarming to learn that our funding for food
had been cut. Young people show up at our door every day in need of
food and are always thankful for something to eat. It is a pleasure to
meet them and be able to provide them with some basic necessities.
Thank you to you and the members of the Active 20/30 Club for looking
out for these important young people. Your donation is greatly
appreciated and I can see how it impacts teens every day. Thank you
for making a difference. Warm regards, Jocelyn Jocelyn Arild, MFT #48814 Youth and Family Counselor
Back to School Shopping is Possible for Sonoma County's Needy Children Thanks to Active 20-30 Club
For many children, back to school shopping in preparation for the start of another academic year is a standard practice. New clothes, backpacks, and school supplies allow these children to start the new school year off with confidence. However, for thousands of Sonoma County's needy children, back to school shopping is something they only hear about and are not able to participate in.
On Saturday, August 6th, 2011, the Active 20-30 Clubs of the Redwood Empire, Santa Rosa, and Healdsburg will sponsor 191 Sonoma County kids in need to go back to school shopping. Each child will receive a $150 gift card to use at JC Penney, Old Navy, Icing, and Payless Shoes at Coddingtown Mall. In addition to new clothes, haircuts provided by Redwood Empire Beauty College, and vision and dental screenings provided by Dr. Buzza and Dr. John Kang. The children will also receive brand new backpacks filled with all the necessary school supplies appropriate to their grade level.
Children will be matched with an adult Active 20-30 Club volunteer who will assist them in selecting stylish clothes and shoes that fit properly. At the completion of the shopping spree, participants will receive a pancake breakfast cooked by the Santa Rosa Police Officer's Association.
Kidspree event co-chair, Marisa Zunino summed up the experience, “To be able to see the joy in these children's eyes when they get their first brand new clothes or shoes and to see them so excited and appreciative is what this club is all about.”
The Back to School Children's Shopping Spree is funded and organized by the local Active 20-30 Clubs, a social and philanthropic organization for young adults. The Children who participate in the event are referred by agencies including COTS, Boys & Girls Clubs, Millennium Housing, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

"We are so excited about our new playground.
What was once a dull, unimaginative yard of cement and turf is now a colorful, safe
and engaging place for kids to play, ride, climb and build friendships. They
and their parents are thrilled and so are we. Thank you 20/30 Clubs!" - Carrie Hess, Director Children's Programs at COTS in Petaluma

* KidSpree - Back to School Shopping with the Active 20-30 Club
August 7th at 7:00 am
Coddingtown Mall, Santa Rosa
Going back to school can be nerve-racking enough, but not having clothes or shoes that fit, a fresh haircut or school supplies can make it downright stressful when you're a kid. Back-to-school shopping holds many different memories for adults and kids alike and The Redwood Empire Active 20-30 Club partnered with The Santa Rosa Active 20-30 Club #50 makes sure the shopping memories for over 150 children in Sonoma County are exceptionally amazing!
Using money that the Active 20-30 club raises throughout the year at events like Red, White and Boom, Beer Fest and their annual January Crab Feed, they are able to take over 150 children back to school shopping, give them a full breakfast and provide haircuts and school supplies, with just $150 for each child.
This Saturday, August 7th at 7:00am, both Active 20-30 Clubs are working with The Soroptimist Club of Santa Rosa, Coddingtown Mall and local charities such as COTS, YWCA, Catholic Charities, Grey Foundation and more, to put on their annual KidSpree ensuring Sonoma County children in need get the essentials to go back to school.
Please support the Redwood Empire Active 20-30 Club in our efforts to continue raising money to help support the children of Sonoma County. Contact us at: Active 20-30 KidSpree, PO Box 11133, Santa Rosa, CA 95406 or www.redwoodempire2030.com if you're interested in helping support local children.
